Kitchin AI ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Kitchin AI mobile application ("App").
Kitchin AI is a free application. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
When you use Kitchin AI, you may provide:
- Account Information: Email address (for account creation and authentication)
- Profile Information: Date of birth, sex, height, weight, activity level, and household size
- Health Information: Food allergies, dietary preferences, health conditions, and medications
- Meal Data: Food logs, meal photos, recipes, and ingredient information
- Location Data: Zip code (used for regional dietary insights, stored anonymously)
Information From Connected Services
With your permission, we may collect:
- Apple HealthKit Data: Activity metrics, heart rate, sleep data, and other health metrics you choose to share
- Wearable Device Data: Health and fitness data from connected devices (Oura, WHOOP, Garmin, Fitbit, etc.) via Terra Health SDK
- Google Calendar Data: Read-only access to your upcoming calendar events (next 7 days) to provide schedule-aware meal planning
Automatically Collected Information
When you use our Services, we receive the following information:
- Log Data: Information that your device automatically sends when you use our Services, including your Internet Protocol address, the date and time of your request, and how you interact with our Services
- Usage Data: Information about your use of the Services, such as the features you use, the actions you take, your time zone, and the dates and times of access
- Device Information: Information about the device you use to access the Services, such as the device name, operating system, and device identifiers
- Location Information: We may determine the general area from which your device accesses our Services based on your IP address for security reasons and to improve your experience
How We Use Your Information
We use the information provided in Kitchin AI to provide that service to you, including to help you learn about wellness and health topics, develop pantry solutions, and interpret fitness metrics and work toward fitness goals.
Kitchin AI includes its own Memory feature that allows us to remember certain details and preferences from your past conversations and any connected apps or services, and provide you with more tailored responses.
We also use your information to:
- Provide Personalized Nutrition Insights: Analyze your meals and health data to deliver customized recommendations
- Detect Patterns: Identify correlations between your food intake and health metrics to help you understand how foods affect your body
- Generate Recipes: Create meal suggestions tailored to your dietary needs, allergies, and health goals
- Check Food-Medication Interactions: Alert you to potential interactions between foods and your medications
- Communicate With You: Provide customer support and respond to your inquiries
- Protect Our Services: Prevent fraud, illegal activity, or misuse of our services, and protect the security of our systems
- Comply With Legal Obligations: Protect the rights, privacy, safety, or property of our users, Kitchin AI, and third parties
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
Data Storage and Security
On-Device Storage
The majority of your data is stored locally on your device, including:
- Meal logs and food history
- Chat conversations
- Learned preferences and patterns
- Behavioral data
Cloud Storage
We use Firebase (Google) for:
- Authentication: Securely managing your account login
- Profile Sync: Storing your health profile to enable access across sessions
Your health profile data stored in our cloud systems is associated with an anonymous identifier, not your name or email address directly.
Third-Party Services
We use third-party services to power certain features of the App, such as AI processing, nutrition data, and authentication. These services process data to provide functionality but cannot identify you personally. Data sent to these services is not linked to your identity.
These third-party services:
- Receive only the data necessary to perform their function
- Cannot link this data back to your identity
- Are bound by their own privacy policies regarding data handling
Apple HealthKit
If you choose to connect Apple HealthKit:
- We only read the health data categories you explicitly authorize
- HealthKit data is used solely to provide personalized insights within the App
- We do not sell HealthKit data
- We do not share HealthKit data with third parties for advertising or marketing
- We do not use HealthKit data for purposes unrelated to health and fitness functionality
- HealthKit data is stored securely on your device
Google Calendar
If you choose to connect Google Calendar:
- We request read-only access to your calendar events for the next 7 days
- Calendar data is used solely to provide schedule-aware meal timing suggestions and nutritional planning within the App
- We do not create, modify, or delete any calendar events
- We do not store your calendar data on our servers — it is processed on-device
- We do not sell or share calendar data with third parties
- You can disconnect Google Calendar at any time through the App’s Settings
Your Control
We've designed Kitchin AI to give you control over the information it handles.
- Apps: You may be able to connect Kitchin AI with a variety of third-party data sources and tools, such as fitness trackers and other third-party apps. You control which Apps are integrated to your account and you can remove or add new Apps at any time in your account settings by navigating to the "Apps" section.
Disclosure of Personal Data
We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose your Personal Data in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: To assist us in meeting business operations needs and to perform certain services and functions, we may disclose Personal Data to service providers, including providers of hosting services, cloud services, and other information technology providers. These parties will access, process, or store Personal Data only in the course of performing their duties to us.
- Business Transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, your Personal Data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change and any choices you may have regarding your information.
- Legal Requirements: We may share your Personal Data with government authorities or other third parties if required to do so by law, or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect and defend our rights or property, protect the safety and security of our users or the public, or protect against legal liability.
- Aggregated or De-identified Data: We may share anonymized, aggregated data that cannot identify any individual user for research or analytical purposes.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights in relation to your Personal Data. You have the right to:
- Access: Access your Personal Data and information relating to how it is processed
- Delete: Delete your Personal Data from our records
- Update or Correct: Update or correct your Personal Data
- Data Portability: Request a copy of your Personal Data in a portable format
- Withdraw Consent: Withdraw your consent at any time where we rely on consent as the legal basis for processing
- Disconnect: Revoke access to HealthKit or wearable devices at any time through your device settings
You can exercise some of these rights through the App settings. If you are unable to exercise your rights through the App, please contact us at privacy@kitchin.ai.
Data Retention
We retain your Personal Data for only as long as we need in order to provide our Services to you, or for other legitimate business purposes such as resolving disputes, safety and security reasons, or complying with our legal obligations. How long we retain Personal Data will depend on a number of factors, such as the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the information, and any legal requirements that we are subject to.
- On-Device Data: Remains on your device until you delete the App or clear App data
- Cloud Data: Retained while your account is active; deleted upon account deletion request
Children's Privacy
Kitchin AI is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
Health Information
Kitchin AI provides medical insight using clinically cited databases. While we strive for accuracy, the information provided should be used as a helpful resource alongside professional medical advice.
If you have specific concerns about your health, diet, medications, or health conditions, we recommend consulting with a qualified healthcare professional.

We may update this notice from time to time. When we do, we will publish an updated version and effective date on this page. If we make material changes, we may provide you with additional notice such as sending you an email or notification.
